Surprised by Jesus' story - 8 am 3/3/19
Sam Durley
Jesus' life is a story, and like any story, we should read it in the order it was given to us. If we always read Jesus' story by starting at the end, then the events of Jesus' life will no longer surprise us.

Elijah: Prayer - 6 pm 28/10/18
Sam Durley
What can we learn from Elijah about how we should pray? God had set fire to the pyre on top of Mount Carmel confirming He is the God who can end the drought that is afflicting the land. However, Elijah keeps on praying. Elijah has to pray a further seven times before God begins to enact His promise to end the drought in Israel. Prayer is continual, committed and freeing.

The Sabbath for man - 8 am 3/6/18
Sam Durley
Sam focuses on Jesus' rebuttal of the Pharisees found in Mark 2:23-3:6. The Pharisees criticise Jesus and his disciples when they appear to break the law of the Sabbath by performing tasks such as picking wheat or healing the sick. But Jesus' statement that "The Sabbath is made for man, not man for the Sabbath" revolutionises our understanding of the Sabbath, and this should explain Jesus' fierce critique of the Pharisees.
