Seeing salvation - 8 am 3/2/19
Godfrey Stone
Simeon and Anna waited in the Temple, and rejoiced to welcome the baby Jesus as the fulfilment of all their hopes! Psalm 48 verse 9 gave us a clue of how they meditated on God's promises with minds full of the love of God ... We can find similar resources for our own times of waiting ...

God's daily blessing: strength and peace - 8 am 13/1/19
Godfrey Stone
The Baptism of Christ also reminds us that He is the Baptizer in Holy Spirit ‘and fire’. This blessing brings redemption, refining and renewal ... echoing the ‘strength and peace’ offered to God’s people in Psalm 29.

Easter life and Easter living - 8 am 1/4/18
Godfrey Stone
The raising of Jesus from the dead confirms him as the Christ, God's Son and (the one with God's authority to be) our Saviour. The two Marys - first witnesses to the empty tomb and to his risen presence - were transformed. Our lives - our past, present and future - can be equally touched by this new life in Christ as we renew our baptism vows on Easter Day! This vision of the risen Christ focuses the church's vision too.

For you - 8 am 25/3/18
Godfrey Stone
Holy Week invites us re-enter the narrative of the last week of Jesus's life. It is a humbling time as we become aware that we, with his 1st century followers, fall short and let him down. But the Passover psalm (118) helps us rejoice in God's offer of salvation - nicely illustrated in Charles Simeon's 18th century experience. Holy Week leads to personal transformation - and as the Prayer Book prayers remind, Jesus did it all 'for you'.

The seed must die - 8 am 18/3/18
Godfrey Stone
The powerful word-picture of the seed falling into the ground and dying (John 12 verse 24) shows the significance of the death of Jesus. John goes on to indicate the way disciples are to walk in the footsteps of this self-sacrificing Jesus, and how (v 26) the church is to become fruitful as a community given to His service.
