Hymns of Praise
Timeless truths and their background.
Christian Hymnody – the singing of hymns - is truly a great ecumenical enterprise. Hymn singing is a feature common to most if not all churches and is therefore one of the elements which unites us as one Body in Christ. All sorts of people enjoy singing hymns and listening to them. They span the centuries of history and bridge the barrier of denominations.
The lives of hymn writers reveal the amazing workings of our God; and their experiences of God can enlighten, encourage and edify us. Knowing the background of familiar and well-loved hymns can enable us to sing them with fresh meaning as we seek to bring joy and blessing to our God and those around us. The privilege is ours to offer to God our sacrifice of praise [Heb 13:15]
On Saturday 23rd September 2017, at 7pm, we will host an evening of Hymns of Praise at St Andrews Church, Linton Road, Oxford, presented by the well-known Christian broadcaster Pam Rhodes. We hope you will join us for this great opportunity to sing your favourite hymns and be blessed by their background stories.
Tickets at £5 per adult [concessions available] in aid of the Jubilee Building.
